I’m thinking about giving up the performing, Broadway dream
I think my potential to be a performer on Broadway is about 0%. Sure I can act but I know that I just can’t sing. It bugs me no one’s really told me this and I kept convincing myself I can. A few years down the road, I realize it’s not worth it.
But I’m not completely unhappy with this. Granted, I out of my mind love performing. The rush and the thrill. I can’t imagine living without it…but what if I did something else that would make me almost just as happy?
What if I became a director? Or a playwright? Something else I love about theatre is the backstage work. The nitty gritty work, getting into everything, creating an experience versus a show. For both the team and the audience. I would be apart of the casting, making others’ dreams come true. I would still have friends in the cast, and I would still be around those crazy theatre people I love to be around.
I just love being around my weirdos and the life they get to live if they’re lucky enough.
What do you think I should buy…
- 1981 CATS Broadway Poster
- 5 Broadway Playbills of “How To Succeed…” with DR
- 38 Broadway fliers of a lot of currently well known shows
- An “Into The Woods” signed script (by Bernadette Peters, Joanna Gleasontom Aldridge, Stephen Sondheim, and Chip Zien)
They’re all inbetween 5-15 dollars.
What do you think?
This is WHY I would want each and why I’m so torn:
- Cats: Cats was my first connection to Broadway. I had it on VHS when I was little and watched it OVER and OVER and OVER again. I loved it so much.
- I think How To Succeed is going to be an iconic Broadway show. I’m going to see it (hopefully!) this summer but it won’t be OBC. This playbill is going to be something I’ll treasure for a long time. Plus, since there’s 5, I can always sell one in a few years, keep one for myself, and if I ever meet someone who’s a crazy fan, I could give them one if we become close.
- The Lot of Fliers: :S I’m not sure! I just think it’d be really cool! To have so many! I would like to make a scrap book and put in pictures and quotes next to each flier. Idk, a cool idea I think.
- Signed Script: Dude. It’s a SIGNED SCRIPT by Bernadette Peters and Stephen Sondheim!!!!
HELP ME!!!!
First: I know. I sound horrible.
Anyways, I need thespian opinions. What do you think? This is an original song I wrote for my musical, when the girl finds out that her boyfriend cheated on her and she sings this to embarrass him.
Let me know what you think?
Thanks <3
